Petrified Wood
fossils are the physical remnants of extremely ancient trees, some dating as far back as 170 billion years. The process begins as different minerals penetrate the cell walls of trees that have died in the heavy sediment of a river or floodplain. Volcanic ash was often a primary mineral component, as was chalcedony and quartz. It is believed that the addition of iron-rich groundwater created the rainbow of colors that we see in the petrified wood fossils today.
In metaphysics, petrified wood provides for strength in all areas of one’s life, much like the ancient tree it came from. It is believed when one meditates with petrified wood, it may help to bring forth memories of past lives.
