Pair of Incredible Antique 19th Century Chinese Export Silver Candle Holders
This stunning pair of candle holders was hand made around the 1870s in China, likely for export to Western countries. The pieces feature a hexagonal base on which mythological figures are resting on their arms carrying cash coins on their tails. A very unusual and intriguing design. Monogrammed on base surface next to the hands.
Very good antique condition with one location where a connection is becoming detached (see pictures). Does not impact stability and could be easily welded together if desired.
These antique beauties measure approx. 9 1/2″ high x 3 3/8 wide (at the base) and weigh ca. 610 grams (together). Stamped with Chinese markings. Any input from connoisseurs on identifying the marks is highly welcome.
